Physical Therapy services are available to students from birth to 21 years. It is a related service and is provided in conjunction and coordination with a primary Special Education service. The physical therapist looks specifically at muscle function, posture, movement, and cardiorespiratory function to help develop academic, social, vocational, leisure, and self-help skills with other team members. The physical therapist adapts equipment so a student is able to be more functional in his/her environment. The therapist is often the liaison between the medical and educational communities in servicing the student with physical disabilities.
A full array of services are available but are based on the individual student's needs. These interventions are most effective when they impose the least on the student's natural setting.
