Welcome
HVED’s new Web site is the production of hours of thought, discussion, evaluation, research, and planning. Oh right, and implementation, too. Engaging both the technical aspects -- servers, software, etc., -- and the content aspects -- what gets migrated, how do we organize things, etc., -- has been challenging.
Purpose & Goals
Revamping our Web site has been in discussion since October, 2009. The ultimate goal is to offer increased usability -- be it by reorganization, separating or condensing content, etc. The secondary goal is streamlining & modernization (get that fresh new look!). We also wanted to make it easier to update: if it’s easier to maintain, there’s a better chance that new, fresh content will be posted and the site will get more use.
Layout & Organization
In an effort to maximize usability, menus have been redesigned. Quick links for finding content have been brought to the main page and now require one click whereas before they may have buried 3 or 4 clicks down. Public documents have been made more accessible. And maybe the coolest feature of all is a functional search.
